The Chronicles Of BMG

The Chronicles Of BMG

I used to read tonnes of story books when I was a kid.
It was all started when I was in 5th grade, when I accidentally went to my school library and while surfing thru book racks, I accidentally got hold of an Enid Blyton book, And, since then I never look back. I read and read and read thru all the collections in my primary school library, secondary school library, national library which is just few hundred meters from my school and any available books. English classics, children adventures, malay translations, children fantasies, comics, Japanese manggas, tamil moral stories, tamil novels and  I even read the heavies like Baghavat Gheeta and Mahabharata at the teenage years. This were a period of my life where I engulfed myself with books particularly story books. Its like I'm transcended to another world, another dimension when I start reading books.

But after so many years of adulthood, I barely remember any of the stories I've read. So I decided that my kids shouldn't be like me so I started telling them bed time stories in their early life. I didn't read out from story books as how normally people will do but I just tell them randomly using my quick thinking. Sometime I took out some scenes out of popular stories. First it was some animal stories like turtle and rabbit then some sang kancils. Later I started telling some classic English stories like Oliver Twist, The Faraway Tree, The Famous Five, Nancy Drew etc etc.

After few years of bed time stories, I started a series of children adventures stories. Its like a series of stories where the protagonists are the same 3 kids; Princess B, sometime known as Honey Bee, Agent M and Mista G-in da house. Well these are acronyms derived from my kids names ( Balqis, Mikhail and Gibran). Someday they are 3 siblings getting into trouble or solving some mysteries. Another day they are 3 Friends that facing trouble and get over it with their wits.

What started out as random act now has became my kids favorite activity. Whenever I couldn't tell them stories due to my gym time or running trainings,  they will get agitated. Until today The Chronicles Of BMG had reached 25th episodes. The hardest part of this activity is have to think quickly the scenes according to the story line and in the meantime fightback the my sleep that start to crawl on me while I'm laying down with my kids. and those stories have to have plots which are adventurous, morally good, and some heroic scenes where the three protagonist get into trouble and survived the day. Most of the day, the stories revolve around the 3 kids' school holiday adventures like in any Enid Blyton books. I also throw in some Narnia where these kids went to their grandmas house for school holiday and found some magic wardrobe.

Finally, I just hope I get more creative stories to tell to ma kids so that they're not bored with me. well actually Im getting bored with the same type of stories I have to tell ma kids with just some twerks here and there. AND hoping that ma kids will forever remember these bed time stories or at least the activities we conducted.

Runners High

For those people used to getting high with drugs and other lethal stuffs, believe me. The high you need the high u seek is actually inside you, inside your mind.
Brain is a complex organ that soul which is the real YOU uses as tool to order other organs in the body to perform their duty precisely.
The brain consist of billions of network of cells called neurons and these neurons releases neurotransmitters to send and receive signals. Drugs interfere with the way neurons send, receive, and process signals via neurotransmitters. Some drugs, such as marijuana and heroin, can activate neurons because their chemical structure mimics that of a natural neurotransmitter in the body. This allows the drugs to attach onto and activate the neurons. Although these drugs mimic the brain's own chemicals, they don't activate neurons in the same way as a natural neurotransmitter, and they lead to abnormal messages being sent through the network.
Other drugs, such as amphetamine or cocaine, can cause the neurons to release abnormally large amounts of natural neurotransmitters or prevent the normal recycling of these brain chemicals by interfering with transporters. This too amplifies or disrupts the normal communication between neurons.

Soucony Run 2019

Event Name: Soucony Run 2019
Date: 4 August 2019
Distance: 30KM
Venue: Cyberjaya
Of all the races I've participated so far, this event was remarkably different from the rest. As would any other races. But when I choose to run 30KM for the 1st time, I knew it this w0ill be my 1st year anniversary race to commemorate my miraculous shift in life. Its been 1 year since I start reshuffling my life and rearranging my priorities in life.
Why 30KM, well its not Half Marathon which I already ran 4 times so far and may not be that significance and just will be another feather in the flock. And I'm not ready yet to run a full marathon. So 30 is just a nice number, the inbetweener.

PREPARATION

To run 30Km, I didn't do any special training besides my routine runs which was 4 times a week with total of 35-40km weekly mileage including easy run, fartlek, tempo and the classic long runs on weekends. Just 1 week before the event, I ran 25Km, the farthest I've run; to test my body for endurance. The night before I couldn't sleep well, my mood was swinging from excitement to anxiety.
This is my official bib for Soucony Run 2019. Note that size of my finisher-T ;p

RACE DAY

I slept barely 3.5 hours and wake up at 3.30 am. Since most of the items were already packed and kept in my car, I just cleaned my bowels (important as not to disturb my run) and prayed 2 rakaat Tahajjud. Sharp at 4 am I drove out towards Cyberjaya with the help of Waze.
Here are the checklist of items to bring on race day:
paration:
1. Energy gel✔
2. Saltstick✔
3. Surgery tape✔
4. Steigen socks✔
6. Blinker
7. Krim Panas✔
8. Energy bar/bun/ pisang/dates✔
9. Head buff ✔
10. Plastic for fon✔
11. Garmin- Fully charged ✔
12. Bib
13. Pouch Beg✔
15. Mass Gain

I start making these list because of my maiden half marathon incident where I forgot the salt sticks and energy gel and cramped my both legs half way thru.  Btw my 1st half marathon race was Score Night Run (13 April 2019) at Putrajaya.

4.40 am I parked my car 500m from flag off area and walked to the FO while eating 2 vanilla buns. At the starting line there were already runners lined up waiting for flag off. I joined them and start doing some warm up drills to pump up my heart and loosen the joints. There I met few of my running buddies from Smart Athletics Club (SAC).

Sharp at 5 am the race was flagged off and I started my journey of 30Km. Km by km I inched my way, I stopped at every water stations to drink water n 100 plus to hydrate my body.  After 7km, I started to look for places to perform my morning prayer. Nearer to 8km saw some guys started to take ablution. So I just stopped neat that guy and asked for kiblah direction and start performing before-dawn prayers. While praying another runner joined me so we ended the prayer as a congregation. Then I start my 2nd phase of race because I'm already rested well for like 3 minutes and my heart beat returned to normal.

Around 10KM, I switched on the music from my phone which is kept in porch and started to blare my favorite tracks which compromises of old and new hits. I let the phone shuffle the tracks and it did well by blaring thru the cold morning all my favorite hits.

inch by inch, km by km I ran with full of confidence knowing that there will be Finishing Line waiting for me at the end and this torment is just temporary. I stopped at every water stations, refueling with waters and isotonics. I cant remember at which km the organizers gave out bananas. I took two of them. One eat it there and another one I kept it until I reach next WS and eat it with gulps of mineral waters.

10KM-20KM was just normal sailing as I was well prepared and trained. I took 1 energy gel  at KM15. At around 18km I saw few of my running group mates running on opposite lanes after U-turn. I cheered them up and clapped them to motivate them. They were ahead of me by few km. While I made the U-turn my self and running back suddenly I was shouted from opposite lane and I saw another of my running mate cheering me. Hahaha. What you give is what you get.

I prepared myself mentally that do not rush things, just relax and enjoy journey while seeing the scenery and listening to music and eventually the finish line will come by. Since this is my 1st 30KM, I was on mixed feelings. Whether I can finish the distance? Will I  DNF? Injured? Body couldn't take the endurance load? So I just thronged the road expecting good vibes and some mouthful of stories to tell my family and friends.

At 20KM, I had my Sneakers choc bar as energy booster. This really powered up my body and I started to feel better and this greatly improved my pace. After KM20 I knew its a different game since I already did 4 halves previously and quite comfortable for distances until 20km. I start to slow down my pace and even switched between running and walking. Crossing KM25 was a great milestone for me and I start to realize that the possibility of finishing the race injury free and within COT. This thought itself gave me much needed boost. But I still tried my best not to rush things and take one at a time.  At this point I started recognize few people coz its the same faces running approximately in same pace. I even started few conversation with some runners, motivating each other and I keep repeating how this is my first experience doing 30km race ;p. Also I realize that my stomach start to shutdown as usually energy gels, bars or even bananas get digested in few kilometers after I eat them. But now after 25km whatever I took, banana, energy gel  and even isotonic drinks got stuck in my stomach and had hard time digesting them. I just tried to adjust to the discomfort and keep moving forward. At the 27km or 28km, I cant correctly remember; the organizers provide coconut drinks, red bull and Coke. I didn't took any of it in order to prevent any further discomfort to my stomach. Later I found out that these drinks are usually provided at near endings of marathon to boost energy levels. Later I found out that after some time of running, our body automatically shuts down unwanted processes such as digestion in order to provide more blood hence more oxygen to lower parts of body to survive the race. What an amazing creature we are. Just another example of greatness of the Almighty God.
Finisher Medal Soucony Run 2019

Race Result. The Pride of My Journey. I might think the timing lousy in few years but for now this is precious

Split Result. Seems that I didn't improved nor deteriorated my standings thru out the race.

I'M BACK... After SIX Long Years...!!!

Goshhh...

Finally I was able crack the email and password for this blog. It been a (long) while since last blogged or signed in here because of my hectic schedule and whenever I had the hunger to type, I found that I've lost the email address and also password for this Blog. So I just postponed my writing intentions. I even had tried to create a new blog (Untold Stories 2, perhaps) but just left it midway thru. What a lazy bum i have became, sigh.

Anyways.. Am back, and back for good. Since I last blogged 6 years ago, I got tonnes and tonnes of stories to tell, even tough I know nobody gonna find this blog and even if they does, wont have the time to read it all; Im still gonna write, write and write.... Chiaooo....
