The Chronicles Of BMG

The Chronicles Of BMG

I used to read tonnes of story books when I was a kid.
It was all started when I was in 5th grade, when I accidentally went to my school library and while surfing thru book racks, I accidentally got hold of an Enid Blyton book, And, since then I never look back. I read and read and read thru all the collections in my primary school library, secondary school library, national library which is just few hundred meters from my school and any available books. English classics, children adventures, malay translations, children fantasies, comics, Japanese manggas, tamil moral stories, tamil novels and  I even read the heavies like Baghavat Gheeta and Mahabharata at the teenage years. This were a period of my life where I engulfed myself with books particularly story books. Its like I'm transcended to another world, another dimension when I start reading books.

But after so many years of adulthood, I barely remember any of the stories I've read. So I decided that my kids shouldn't be like me so I started telling them bed time stories in their early life. I didn't read out from story books as how normally people will do but I just tell them randomly using my quick thinking. Sometime I took out some scenes out of popular stories. First it was some animal stories like turtle and rabbit then some sang kancils. Later I started telling some classic English stories like Oliver Twist, The Faraway Tree, The Famous Five, Nancy Drew etc etc.

After few years of bed time stories, I started a series of children adventures stories. Its like a series of stories where the protagonists are the same 3 kids; Princess B, sometime known as Honey Bee, Agent M and Mista G-in da house. Well these are acronyms derived from my kids names ( Balqis, Mikhail and Gibran). Someday they are 3 siblings getting into trouble or solving some mysteries. Another day they are 3 Friends that facing trouble and get over it with their wits.

What started out as random act now has became my kids favorite activity. Whenever I couldn't tell them stories due to my gym time or running trainings,  they will get agitated. Until today The Chronicles Of BMG had reached 25th episodes. The hardest part of this activity is have to think quickly the scenes according to the story line and in the meantime fightback the my sleep that start to crawl on me while I'm laying down with my kids. and those stories have to have plots which are adventurous, morally good, and some heroic scenes where the three protagonist get into trouble and survived the day. Most of the day, the stories revolve around the 3 kids' school holiday adventures like in any Enid Blyton books. I also throw in some Narnia where these kids went to their grandmas house for school holiday and found some magic wardrobe.

Finally, I just hope I get more creative stories to tell to ma kids so that they're not bored with me. well actually Im getting bored with the same type of stories I have to tell ma kids with just some twerks here and there. AND hoping that ma kids will forever remember these bed time stories or at least the activities we conducted.
